A new subscription service, Svbscription debuts a collection of home and kitchen goods curated by The Selby.
The photographer, journalist, and illustrator Todd Selby—aka The Selby—has made a career out of documenting the living spaces of stylish, quirky people, sharing glimpses of their unique lifestyles and favorite things on his website, theselby.com, and in magazines and books. Turning the focus back on The Selby himself is Svbscription, a "lifestyle service for men" that delivers curated products and experiences straight to subscribers' doors (for a price: $300 per quarter, or $1,150 per year).
On July 1st, 2013, Svbscription will release a limited-edition collaboration with The Selby—a collection of home and kitchen goods curated to offer a glimpse into his world, bringing together work from some of his favorite designers and creators from around the world. What's cool about the project? "One, it’s fun to get a surprise, and two, it’s great to get stuff you can’t get anywhere else," says Selby.
The contents of the pack are usually kept secret until its release, but we extracted a few details from The Selby. "The parcel contains a total of five items from Mexico, London, New Zealand and the US," he says. "And one of them is a product that I created called Home Style Recipes by The Selby."
To create Home Style Recipes, "I worked with great people like Eric Ripert, Alice Waters, and Tom Sachs, who all contributed recipes that will come in a awesome wooden box," says The Selby, who illustrated the cards in his trademark colorful and playful style. "It will also come with blank cards for people to write their own recipes on." To discover the other items in the box, you'll have to subscribe. There are just 47 membership spots left, and the boxes ship out next week.
