Celebrate American spirit this 4th of July with a range of red, white, and blue inspiration from kitchen accessories to interiors.
Modern painted red tunneled kitchen

By inserting a tunnel made from 36 reclaimed commercial doors and tearing down a handful of walls, LOT-EK and contractor Andreas Scholtz brought light into the formerly unused dark hallway in Maurice Russell (right) and Jorge Fontanez’s New York City apartment. The glossy Safety Red paint by Benjamin Moore catches the light by day but “becomes a richer, darker, very relaxing red at night,” Fontanez says. Read the whole story here.

Michael McCarthy and Marcia Meyers took to the internet to find this stunner, a clean combination of white and glass, in Harbor Springs, Michigan. The home--also known as the Douglas House designed by Richard Meier--is tucked away in the hills and provides luxurious views of the turquoise water of Lake Michigan. The home offers multiple entryways via footbridge as well as cantilevered stairs. Read the whole story here.

Clad striped exterior

Though it's technically red, gray, and blue, this South African exterior gets a nod in our color-themed roundup. The red-and-gray Vermont cladding from Everite’s Nutec line makes architect Gavin Rooke's home an instant landmark (and a good deal warmer come winter) in a region full of rustic steel barns. “The color scheme pushes the envelope,” Rooke says. “This town could do with some color.” Read the whole story here.
