We hunted down the essentials in this rustic-meets modern bedroom so you can recreate the look in your home.
  •
Hannah and Paul Catlett trusted long-time friend, architect Matthew Hufft to build their home on three acres outside of Springfield, Missouri and he didn’t let them down. Hufft transformed their vision of a traditional farmhouse into a sleek porch house with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside.  The master bedroom is a perfect example of the Catletts’ take on American modern with solid walnut furniture and a sliding barn door that leads to the bathroom. Airy windows framing the hallway let Hannah and Paul look outside to “see what our boys are destroying.” This originally appeared in Modern Take on a Traditional Farmhouse in Missouri.

Paul built the walnut bed with the help of Hannah’s two brothers, however, we like the simple look of DWR’s Case Study Alpine bed, also in walnut. Like the Catlett’s version it is made in the USA. From $2,895

The family also built the nightstand, but we found a similar version: the solid walnut Darwinizm side table by IZM. There is a special slot for your reading material so the tabletop stays tidy. $1,150

Paul’s American flag was a gift from one of his clients at the hair salon he owns. A flag should be fairly easy to procure at thrift stores or eBay, but this vintage stock from Urban Outfitters is a quick pick. $389
