More Information
Benjamin Ball grew up in Colorado and Iowa where his mother's involvement in theatre proved influential. While studying for his degree at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Ball logged stints at Gehry Partners and Shirdel Zago Kipnis. Upon graduation, he sought work as a set and production designer for films (including the Matrix series) as well as music videos and commercials with such influential directors as Mark Romanek and Tony Scott. His experience ranges from work on the Disney Concert Hall and small residential commissions for boutique firms to complex medical structures and event design. In his current collaboration with Gaston Nogues, Ball is exploring the intersection of architecture, art and product design through physical modeling and the use of digital and more traditional forms of production. A major goal of his design endeavors is to create experiences; because of this, he feels "a building that is not built is not architecture."
In 2006, Ball-Nogues Studio was awarded the Best of Category distinction for Environments for their installation Maximilian's Schell by ID Magazine. Ball-Nogues is the recipient of two Los Angeles AIA Design Awards and Interior Design Magazines Best of Year Award for their installation Rip Curl Canyon. In 2007 their installation Liquid Sky was the winner of the Museum of Modern Art / P.S.1's Young Architect's Program competition and Ball-Nogues became one three design teams who were awarded a United States Artists Target Fellowship. Their work has appeared in publications worldwide including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Architectural Record, Architectural Digest, Interior Design, Icon, Log 10, Sculpture, and Surface.

More Information
Enrico Bressan is an architect by trade. A native of Italy, he spent many years as a computer electronic design engineer, then founding Artecnica in 1986 as a joint partnership with Tahmineh Javanbakht.
Initially the focus of the business was in architectural and interior design services with clients including Gianni Versace and Sebastian International, spearheading architectural design of Sebastian Centers in France and California, Cosmetic Boutique and Hair Salon in Amsterdam, and Arsenal project in Holland. His award-winning architectural work has been widely published.
In 1993, Bressan’s focus for Artenica shifted the company toward home decor interior accessories, creating a continuous crescendo of trend setting products. Jenna Didier is in pursuit of a new approach to the built environment. A lifelong interest in the creation and use of public space has led to continual opportunities to expand upon her basic experience in construction and metal fabrication. The trajectory of her career begins with the development of technical skills in design, engineering, and fine arts to create mechanical effects, sculpture, and architectural water features to an active engagement in place-making for communities.
In 2002, Ms. Didier founded a non-profit outdoor exhibition space in Los Angeles called Materials & Applications (M&A). This facility mounts two temporary installations a year that showcase architecture and landscapes by firms or individuals that wish to demonstrate a new or emergent material or technique. M&A has won three AIA Design Honor Awards for their exhibits.
Ms. Didier created M&A in order that it be a driving force to increase public participation in the built environment by inspiring visitors with a fresh interest in their surroundings-while they experience the latest ideas in architectural design and theory. The aim: to push the application of materials beyond what typical limits of commercial, residential and traditional gallery-based projects allow towards a more flourishing, living architecture.
Ms. Didier is the principal of Fountainhead (www.fountainhd.com), a water systems design company that specializes in the intersection of technology and sustainable ecological practices. She also belongs to the art collaboration infranatural, currently developing two large-scale public art installations for the city of Los Angeles.

Now one of California’s largest independent environmental organizations, TreePeople is dedicated to helping nature heal our cities.

Andy is a creative problem solver who addresses pressing public health, economic, and environmental issues by forging partnerships between diverse and conflicting parties. Over the past 15 years, Andy has spearheaded “integrated watershed management,” an approach that uses trees and forest-inspired technologies to create a sustainable water supply as well as flood and pollution prevention. This approach is being used in a long term retrofit of the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles (pop. 80,000) creating a new paradigm for increasing environmental health and sustainability in cities.
Andy’s honors include being named to the U.N. Environment Programme’s Global 500 Roll of Honour, and American Forests’ Lifetime Achievement Award.
TreePeople has involved more than two million volunteers in planting more than two million trees. Its environmental education programs reach over 200,000 students each year. Cisco, who moved with his family to South L.A. from Jalisco, Mexico when he was 13, first entered the furniture industry by working part-time in a Huntington Park upholstery shop during high school. In his early twenties, he began making custom furniture in the garage of his South Central Los Angeles home. As his enterprise began to rapidly grow, he recruited his brothers, sister, and other family members to help him with the business. In a highly competitive, design driven industry, Cisco Brothers quickly distinguished itself with its superior craftsmanship, cutting edge style, and unparalleled value. Moreover, the intimate, family-like atmosphere of the company helped nurture uncommon client loyalty.
After the 1992 Los Angeles riots, Cisco decided to move his manufacturing company to the heart of South Central Los Angeles. Though this was viewed as a risky business decision, Cisco had resolved to play a role in revitalizing his ailing childhood neighborhood. The move proved to be a tremendous success as Cisco Brothers has since more than tripled in size. The company continues to grow at a meteoric pace and has been a critical component in the redevelopment of the neighborhood surrounding the factory.
Cisco’s accomplishments were soon recognized outside of the furniture industry, and the company has been featured in The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and NPR, among other media outlets. Cisco Brothers was selected for the City of Los Angeles’ national marketing campaign, and Cisco himself has received numerous civic and business awards, including the prestigious Treasures of the City award by the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office.

Philip Wood is currently the founder and creative director of CITIZEN:Citizen. He is a designer, business owner and curator. He trained in the traditions of English cabinet making and opened his first business at the age of twenty four which, over an eight year period, built up to 20 staff in two locations. Wood’s interests lay in translating traditional crafts through contemporary design. As well as designing, manufacturing and retailing furniture, he built up his own fashion retail business and lectured at universities in the UK.
His thoughts in and around craft, design, art and commerce have been developing ever since his move to America in early 2004. His interests in progressing ways of seeing and communication through objects developed into his latest venture CITIZEN:Citizen
CITIZEN:Citizen produces artist's and designer's work under license and distributes to fashion, contemporary design and museum stores. The limited edition work is further sold through art advisors, private clients and museums.
CITIZEN:Citizen curates and produces work that borrows from both the art and the design worlds, work that is exquisitely crafted and idea based. The pieces reflect an interest in how objects are valued, and how objects are vessels for ideas and reflections of cultural preoccupations. He has successfully brought to market a significant brand whilst authoring a new genre of work that doesn’t easily conform to existing markets.
