Vladimir Ossipoff

Vladimir Ossipoff portrait

Vladimir Ossipoff (1907-1998) spent most of his career working in Hawaii, and became the most significant modernist architect in the state's history. Ossipoff was born in Vladivostok, Russia, spent his childhood in Tokyo, then came to the US in 1923, where he attended the University of California at Berkeley. His notable works include Honolulu International Airport, Davies Memorial Chapel, and the IBM building in Honolulu. Ossipoff was awarded numerous medals and awards from the American Institute of Architects.
