Poul Henningsen

Another giant of mid-century Danish design, Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) worked primarily in lighting design. In his work he consistently sought a soft glow of light from his various lamps and pendants. Though he designed over 100 of them throughout his career, he is perhaps best known for that classic pendant, the Artichoke.

Designed by Poul Henningsen, the PH Artichoke is a 360-degree glare-free luminaire created by 72 leaves that shield the light source, and redirect and reflect the light onto the underlying leaves, giving distinct, unique illumination.

Maestro-of-lighting Poul Henningsen designed the PH Snowball in 1924, and its glare-free radiance is just as clear today. The aluminum shades are placed at just the right angles to ensure even illumination.
