Jasper Morrison hits another home run with this alarm clock available in red, black or white. Though we're known to hit the snooze button over and over again, we wouldn't mind being roused by this looker. There's also a special edition of the AC 01, whose proceeds help benefit people living in Maeami, a fishing village in the Tōhoku region of Japan, which was swept away by the March 2011 tsunami.

Pros
These lightweight polypropylene-and-glass-fiber chairs are ideal for outdoor use; they’re stackable and each has a cutout that ensures the seat won’t gather puddles. They come in ten colors, from fuchsia to beige, so there’s a shade to suit every space.

Cons
One size doesn’t fit all: The relatively low back hits short folks right below the shoulder blades, discouraging reclined relaxation. They come only in sets of four—a bummer if you seek a singleton.

More than 20 years into his career, Jasper Morrison has little to prove. His designs eschew kitsch in favor of timeless qualities that speak to the nature of the object he is designing in this case, a bentwood chair.

Glo Ball’s shade is made from a matte, hand-blown, opaline glass that perches atop a thick gray-painted steel base and stem over a die-cast aluminum support. Takes one 250-watt bulb to glo.

The HP/1 (whose name stands for “hi pad”) is executed in Morrison’s typical understated manner. The molded seat is available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers and sits atop a satin stainless steel base.

There are few finer chairs than those produced by Japanese maker Maruni, whose levels of craftsmanship and woodworking technology are hard to top. Morrison again offers an update of the archetypal cafe chair, but these beauties will do equally well in any home.

The Smithfield series of lights debuted at Euroluce in Milan this year, marking another slick collaboration between designer Jasper Morrison and iconic lighting company Flos. Like the Glo-Ball which came before, this fixture turns a simple shape into something super normal indeed.
