Though his CV includes beds for B&B Italia, architect Antonio Citterio’s prolificacy cast doubts on whether he’s ever used one. The Italian designer has created everything from modular sofas to bathroom fixtures to Vitra’s industrial plant in Germany. In between accepting accolades, Citterio acts as a member of the Italian Design Council and works as a professor at the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland.
The distinct scissored leg of this seat recalls both Poul Kjærholm’s PK91 folding stool and the elegant sculpted aluminum forms of Eames’s Tandem Seating.

The undersized J.J. was created to complement Citterio’s oversize Arne sofas. Steel rods support a stained oak frame, between which a series of crisscrossed seatbelt-like bands make up the seat, which is covered in a leather cushion.
