Åke Axelsson

Åke Axelsson is one of Sweden’s most experienced active designers and interior designers. Since the end of the fifties, his interior design projecds have been plentiful and significant. Axelsson has spent a lot of passionate time analyzing the construction of chairs, including studying ancient Greek and Egyptian chairs. His design is characterized by simplicity and reduction, with form and function clearly deriving from functionalism.

Folding Stool X

Strips of beech wood are steam-bent to create the stool’s frame, which folds flat when not in use. The canvas seat comes in blue, black, and off-white. 

The Zen conference chair by Åke Axelsson, a Småland–born designer who has been making wood furniture pieces since the fourth grade. The ash chair has rounded legs, and can be covered in fabric or leather.
