Comma Chair
Comma Chair by Renata Kalarus for NOTI has been awarded a 2009 Red Dot Honorable Mention. The designer was inspired to give pause (comma) and time to think. The result is a subtraction - a comma shaped scoop removed where the seat meets the back of the chair. The double thickness of the back gives the chair a little extra presence. Pixel Sideboard
The PIXEL sideboard comes with unique MDF fronts which feature digitally processed exotic wood veneers. From a distance, it might seem that these are natural veneers but upon closer inspection it becomes obvious that this is printed design of "digital wood". The creators used these tropical prints intentionally in order to ironically bring to light the problem of exploiting tropical rainforests in furniture manufacturing.
