Beverly Chair

The distinct scissored leg of this seat recalls both Poul Kjærholm’s PK91 folding stool and the elegant sculpted aluminum forms of Eames’s Tandem Seating.

Charles Outdoor Chairs

Ah, wouldn’t it be a dream if all of your most-adored indoor furniture were also suitable for the backyard? The land of the waterlogged white plastic patio set gets a handsome update as B&B Italia took the liberty of weatherproofing their best-selling Charles collection.

Hans Dining Table

This table, created by Antonio Citterio in 2009, features an opening system that allows the central element to be drawn out quickly—a thick crystel top is available in white or gray. There are trestle-shaped legs, which are tapered.

J.J.

The undersized J.J. was created to complement Citterio’s oversize Arne sofas. Steel rods support a stained oak frame, between which a series of crisscrossed seatbelt-like bands make up the seat, which is covered in a leather cushion.

Metropolitan Side Chair

Bernett’s 2003 side chair rounds out a collection that also includes a lounge chair and bed. This chair is available in a wide range of coverings atop a choice of frames: an aluminum base with four feet or a steel sled-style base.

Tufty-Too sofa by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia

Tufty-Too Sofa

You can put the sections
of this piece in any direction and it works. Big, deep, low sofas are good for casual settings. For a living room that will be used for conversation, look for a shallow design with an 18-inch-tall back to create an intimate feel. Whatever the mood, dedicating your budget to anchor pieces that you’ll keep for a long time is important.”—Charles de Lisle
