  • Ikea Houston

    The IKEA story began in 1926 when founder Ingvar Kamprad was born in Småland in southern Sweden. He was raised on 'Elmtaryd', a farm near the small village of Agunnaryd. During the 1940s and 50s, he was entrepreneurial in developing IKEA into a furniture retailer. To do this, he explored the ins and outs of furniture design, self assembly, advertising, the use of a catalog and a showroom to reach the many people.

    Since 1885, Hastings, a privately-owned company, has been a leading provider of decorative architectural products in the U.S. market. Originally founded in Hastings-on-the Hudson New York, as a manufacturer of asphalt and concrete paving materials, the Company compiled a prestigious list of paving installations throughout the United States.   • The Home Depot Miami

    The Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank. Along with investment banker Ken Langone and merchandising guru Pat Farrah, the founders’ vision of one-stop shopping for the do-it-yourselfer came to fruition when they opened the first two Home Depot stores on June 22, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia. The first stores, at around 60,000 square feet each, were cavernous warehouses that dwarfed the competition and stocked 25,000 SKUs, much more than the average hardware store at that time. Empty boxes piled high on the shelves gave the illusion of even more product.

    Since 1980 Pyramid Pipe & Supply has operated a plumbing supply business located one and a quarter miles west of Highway 71 at 3800 Main Street in Grandview Missouri, near the Kansas City area. The store has a parts counter for contractors and plumbers to purchase pipe, valves, fittings, tools, fixtures, water heaters, products, supplies and repair parts for commercial and residential plumbing. Pyramid also displays a wide range of plumbing products in their 2,000-square-foot showroom.

  • Consolidated Supply Co.

    Established in 1928, Consolidated Supply Co. started as a consolidation of four different supply houses operating in Portland, Oregon and employing E. A. Neupert as the General Manager. During the depression years, ownership of the Company was purchased by the Neupert family and the company remains a family operation to this day.
