NeoCon, the contract industry's largest tradeshow, hits Chicago June 10-12, 2013.
Steelcase Regard systems for contract environments debuting at NeoCon 2013

Steelcase will present eight new product introductions, including the Regard collection, which integrates modular seating, casegoods, space dividers, flexible power locations, tables, and planters. Though the line was designed specifically for the education space, like libraries or student lounges, it features many flexible components that would be applicable for the modern office.

For a flexible, moveable office environment, consider Coalesse's Hosu seating and Freestand laptop desk, both shown at NeoCon 2013

Also shown at NeoCon will be Freestand by Stephan Copeland and Patricia Urquiola's Hosu upholstered seats, both of which support the idea of a flexible, laptop-friendly work station.

Both are available in ash, oak, or walnut, and while Bridge features metal leg details, the Hexa has a wood-to-wood joint with a 90-degree vertical profile.

Leaner, lighter, and more responsive update to the Mirra task chair, designed by Studio 7.5 for Herman Miller

Herman Miller debuted its Mirra 2 task chair this spring at Milan's Salone del Mobile; catch it in action at NeoCon in the company's Merchandise Mart showroom #3-321. Designed by Studio 7.5 of Berlin, Germany, it's a complete redesign of the original Mirra chair: leaner, lighter, and more responsive to the sitter's movements.

Open offices can benefit from flexible furniture arrangements like this standing height table called Hoop from Haworth.

Haworth will be introducing six new products and a handful of “preview products” by Patricia Urquiola at this year's NeoCon. Hoop, shown here, is a molded, standing-height table modeled on the open, flexible office, as it encourages collaborative conversation between small groups. Bonus: It can also be used outdoors.

Monday marks the beginning of NeoCon, the annual tradeshow for the contract industry headquartered at Chicago's Merchandise Mart. It's a wealth of resources for architectural or interior designers working in corporate hospitality, healthcare, retail, government, institutional and residential—and there are takeaways for the interested consumer, as well.

In the worlds of architecture and design, we’re always looking for the best ways of supporting sustainable building practices. This awareness doesn’t have to stop at our driveways but rather, it can extend to the cars we choose to take us to the places we go each day. With Toyota’s 2016 Prius, the daily task of getting from point A to point B can now be experienced with a new level of efficiency, safety, and style.
