Nice Neighbor, Good Fence
City: Austin
State: Texas
Degree of Difficulty: 2
Landlord Approval: No

I found 1.5 acres, 20 min from down town Austin. I wanted some privacy but without being too rude. A neighbor was clearing out an old barn, and I found a bunch of rusty 1x6-foot metal studs. They made a really cool fence.

I've been a metal framer for over 18 years and never once thought of building a fence with steel studs. Well done, it looks awesome!

My mind is blown. Just 2 weeks ago I did the same thing. Used 6" metal studs mounted horizontally on pressure treated 4x6s. I set them just 1/2" apart to create more privacy. Maybe I'm not the trail-blazer I thought I was.

That's really nice. I'd like to see how it ages; I bet it'll look great. Good use of recycled materials!
