Vicente Wolf's Own Loft Reinvented

With an affinity to utilizing framed day beds as sofas, Vicente incorporates two into his redesign. This daybed is a 19th century antique from Borneo along with other pieces from his
remote travels like the African Ashanti stool beside the club chair covered in a textured leather from Edelman and the rattan chair in the foreground, also from Africa. The stone on the floor is actually a wool ottoman from South Africa.

The new design brings in more color with a deft Wolf juxtapositioning of centuries and textures. A mid-century Parisian chair is beside a desk from Java with a Sidney Nolan painting atop.

From Vicente Wolf

It was a labor of love. After nine years living with the much-celebrated design, the former iteration of Vicente Wolf’s loft had become, according to Vicente, “too abstract, austere and rigid” and stale. In came a major reupholstery many pieces “making old friends new” with more practical indoor/outdoor fabrics from Janus et Cie, an updated furniture arrangement that is visually expansive and more conducive to relaxed conversation, and of course, new art. His collections of mostly black and white photographs are placed throughout on photo ledges, leaning and propped. Once called The White Knight, backgrounds are PPG Vicente Wolf White. Modern pieces are juxtaposed with period furnishings as well as those personally sourced from his remote travels. All classic Vicente Wolf devices. The renovation offers, in his words “A much more invigorating, sophisticated and edgier-yet-warmer space pairing furnishings that are both calming and have a certain tension to it.”
