The multivalent cabinet core organized interior spaces. It became both an austere modern foil to the suburban detailing of the house and a container for various storage and work spaces.
A vestibule at the end of the core contains shoe storage.
The existing kitchen, which was originally oversized, was refined and condensed. The new layout better suits the owner's love of cooking.
The large master bathroom is oriented towards the sunny backyard.
Skylight chimneys were also added to increase light throughout the house.

When the owners bought this suburban Colonial home, they found it too sprawling for their family of four. Blue Truck Studio reimagined the interior with a central core that houses a bathroom, a vestibule, and hidden storage spaces. Covered in handsome black walnut veneer and punctuated by color and skylight chimneys, the core balances the home’s private and shared spaces to give it a more intimate feel.
The extensive interior remodel — a collaboration with Man Architecture — includes a state-of-the-art kitchen, revised bathrooms, and a reconfigured master suite.
