From Münter Design & Build
A highly-efficient modern home nestled in the East Kootenay mountains.
Bold contrasts and combinations of locally sourced timber and recyclable steel cladding with a relatively small building footprint, highly insulated walls, and an air-tightness of 0.8 AC/H help reduce the environmental impact of this building without detracting from taking advantage of the stunning views of the Rocky Mountains to the North.
Careful selection of finishes and materials allowed us to build a highly effecient and stunningly beautiful home within a fairly constrained budget.
Interior features crisp clean lines and angles, white walls and trim with drywall-returned windows, to not detract from the real showpiece - which is the views.
A stair tower moves the custom single-stringer stairs to a more convenient location and creates an interesting space filled with light and with shadows that create drama across the living space with the motion of the sun through the afternoon.
The double-height ceiling in the great room, filled with quality triple-glazed windows, creates a magical connection with the sky and the outdoors, while a high-efficiency modern wood stove provides warmth and coziness to enjoy the winter backdrop from the comfort of the home.
