Designed by famed architect Walter S. White for psychoanalyst Dr. Franz Alexander, this midcentury-modern estate evokes a feeling of zen with redwood paneling, wall-to-wall glass and lava-rock stonework. Enclosed by a leafy privacy wall, the backyard features manicured lawns, a zero-scaped desert garden, and stone walkways. Cool off in the circular swimming pool, relax in the raised hot tub, or simply take in the panoramic views from black-alder chaise lounge chairs. Both bedrooms feature a California king-size bed, en-suite bathroom, and private entrance to the back garden and circular pool through sliding glass doors. The guesthouse includes an additional bedroom, two bathrooms, living room, and a full kitchen with a double fridge and double dishwasher.

The rest of the residence is styled in modern, chic decor, including a wood-paneled kitchen, an eight-seat dining table beneath an industrial-styled chandelier, a separate five-seat breakfast table, and a charming indoor fire pit—also designed by White. The living room also features a custom built-in bar, fireplace, and relaxed sitting area.

Sliding glass doors, a swooping tongue-and-groove ceiling, and an expansive wraparound balcony create seamless flow for indoor/outdoor living. Sip coffee from one of several sitting areas with a front-row seat to mountain and valley views.

With its two driveways and a double-car garage, the Alexander Residence offers the freedom to explore restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and parks in downtown Palm Springs and entertainment in the surrounding Coachella Valley, including multiple golf courses. Joshua Tree National Park is an hour’s drive away.
