I wanted a modern kitchen and living space in my 1880's Queen Anne Victorian. The dark wood walls were existing. The sitting/ breakfast area was once a sleeping porch. The challenge was to keep the original wood and lighten the space with ample storage. Black and white washed cypress cabinetry create contrast with natural walnut. The original wood is natural heart pine. The ceilings were whitewashed with LED strips installed within the planks to ensure brightness.
