From Mønhuset
On the Northern Coast of the island Sealand in a courtyard house is nested in the high grass. This is the framework the architects behind Moenhuset work within. The interaction between man, nature and simple living is, in our opinion, the best balm to the soul in a fast-paced and stressful everyday life. This house honors these values with its understated presence on the coastline tucked in among grass, bushes, the sea and the sky.
The courtyard house is designed with an active wing and a passive wing. The two wings are connected by a large breezeway. The breezeway opens up to both terraces on either side of the house. The house is designed to acknowledge the wish for togetherness and also the need for moments of solitude.
Cedar was chosen for the exterior because of its durability in the rough weather conditions and because of its beauty, which only increases over time. The interior is light and the sense of nature is with you all the way. The outlook from the large windows toward the sea draws nature inside.
Moenhuset is developed by a firm of Danish architects, and as such its architecture, idiom and functionality are deeply rooted in our core values. We realize that the house will not only be a home here and now – it may last 50-100 years to come. Therefore its design must be timeless and offer great functionality.
The inspiration for Moenhuset comes from simple and functional Scandinavian houses where all square meters have been used effectively. Houses with a simple and functional architecture built on the notion of craftsmanship. In Moenhuset we seek to avoid complex building principles that may prove not to have a satisfactory durability in the long run.
Moenhuset is available as different types of the Længehus (longhouse), the Vinkelhus (L-shaped house) and the Gårdhus (courtyard house), each composed by various standard modules, and can be configured to match your specific needs and visions.
