Luxury Caved Villas

Luxury Caved Villas is a complex of three caved villas, each one with a private pool, placed on a slope in the area of Gouves, Heraklion Crete. The combination of luxury with simplicity, through clear references in the Cretan land, is what makes this project to stand out.

The complex is turned towards the view, and seems to emerge from the earth, as it comes out of the natural ground. Each villa has its own private entrance, achieving privacy in individual access, while maintaining the ability to connect with each other when necessary. Despite the united form of the façade, each house is divided with each other and is isolated with the vertical elements that create the private patios. The two-meter retreat that takes place in the back, allows the natural light and ventilation of the villas. Moreover, the combination of full and perforated pergolas, serves the best sunning and ventilation of the villas, as well as offers to the users the joy of the sun through the day and the ability to observe the night sky towards the night.

The materials and furniture that have been used in the exterior space, are totally compatible with the local terrain. Stone, wood, earthy tones, vegetation and smells that thrive in the area, compose a harmonious landscape that corresponds to the one in Crete and minimizes the environmental impact. Following the exterior, the interior continues in the same style and materiality with the addition of a unique sense of luxury. The complex consists of facilities that allow it to be hospitable all year round, with the views towards the sea and the pools to transform it to an ideal summer resort, whereas the interior decoration indicates a cozy atmosphere for winter holidays. The individual courtyards that are formed on the east side of the plot, expand in two levels, creating a meeting point on the higher one as you walk out of the house, and a more special and quieter one, with the element of the water, through a lake, and the fire to dominate and thus joining the four cosmogenic principles: earth, air, water, fire. Finally, on the northeast side of the plot, we find a belvedere, a magic spot where the visitor can enjoy an unobstructed view towards all levels.
