International Luxury Ambassador Jade Mills, Beverly Hills’ leading real estate professional, and Global Luxury Specialist Tiffany Mills with Coldwell Banker Realty’s Beverly Hills office, have listed the Vanderlip Family’s historic and treasured Rancho Palos Verdes estate, Villa Narcissa, for $12,995,000. In the family for 105 years and owned by four generations of the Vanderlips, the majestic property encompasses approximately 11.46 acres. Located at 100 Vanderlip Dr. in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., the seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom, two-partial-bathroom and approximately 7,700-square-foot Tuscan-style residence was lovingly built in 1924 on a property that includes two guest cottages.

“Villa Narcissa, the Vanderlip Estate, was originally part of the 16,000-acre site purchased over a century ago and still stands as The Peninsula's Crown Jewel, the one that started it all,” said Jade Mills. “The list of guests and events throughout the past century is just legendary. The acreage and its location are the rarest of all even before considering its legacy. A restoration process could be your most heart-warming endeavor, because this property was made for family, events and entertaining.”

Private and gated, much of its surroundings are protected by the land conservancy where nothing can be built, guaranteeing unobstructed views of this natural environment and the panoramic Pacific Ocean. A gradual 246-step cypress allée ascends to a Doric colonnade where you can enjoy breathtaking sights of the peaceful hillside with its olive and citrus tree-lined lanes and its amphitheater. Turn around at any point during the ascent and the Tuscan residence, 10 guesthouses, tennis court and pool all captivate in the breathtaking view. As you enter from the parking lot, travel through a lush green archway, pass by the pool and experience a spectacular view of the villa itself, one of the original Tuscans ever to be built in the South Bay.

Plans for the estate began in 1913, when Frank A. Vanderlip Sr., a New York banker who was instrumental in founding the Federal Reserve system and served as assistant secretary of the treasury under President McKinley, bought approximately 16,000 acres of land in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. and commissioned a meteorological study of the land a year later to find the best site for an estate. The property was named after his wife, Narcissa Cox Vanderlip. Among some of its legendary visitors is Ted Geisel, known as the beloved and famous Children’s author and illustrator Dr. Seuss. Geisel was a close family friend and godfather to Kelvin Cox Vanderlip, Jr., and frequently visited the estate.
