This lacquered-wood-and-aluminum piece, created in 1955 by George Nelson, is signed with the manufacturer's label, and impressed with a model number.
German designer Ingo Maurer created this playful piece out of metal and wings of actual goose feathers in 2005. Designed for rooms with low ceilings, it features ten low-voltage bulbs and transparent cables.
The Dear Ingo challenges preconceptions about everyday objects. Composed from 16 individual task lamps, the whole creates a dynamic chandelier. The spots can be directed, and the shape of the chandelier can be changed. Created in homage to the famed German lighting designer, Dear Ingo is now part of the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Standing at nearly four feet, and constructed of matte chrome-plated steel, this undulating piece was created in Denmark in 1956 by Kjaerholm for E. Kold Christensen.
