Without numbers or markings of any kind, Naoto Fukasawa's Twelve Watch uses the geometry of the watchface itself to tell time: The 12-sided case helps tick down the hours as its minimalist hands keep time slipping, slipping, slipping into the future.
Industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa translated the Japanese tradition of Hanko—individual stamps used in place of a personal signature—into these plastic and steel pens. Super simple and super useful, they allow you to leave your super normal mark on any piece of paper you encounter. The Shop at Cooper-Hewitt is offering the red ballpoint with three different hanko: heart, asterisk, and pointing finger (pictured).
“I have always associated Aalto’s designs, which highlight the graciousness of plain wood, with square building blocks,” says designer Naoto Fukasawa. His birch-laddered modular shelves complement the Finnish brand’s clean-lined collection.
