Sometimes the after-work wander that begins the commute home takes a quick detour to Urban Outfitters, and the downtown hub has quite a few houseware deals to offer. These triangular-patterned ceramic bowls would be a nice addition to an existing tableware collection, or a good, inexpensive starter set for a new apartment.
Our love for accent pillows knows no bounds, so its surprise that this groovy birdie caught our eye. The design comes from David Weidman, an artist whose works are just as vibrant today as when he was creating them mid-century (click on over to his site to browse the seriographs...). Urban Outfitters recently brought the beauty of Alexander Girard to a new generation of hipsters, and the Weidman revival makes for a nice graphic accompaniment.
This gadget might take some getting used to if you’re accustomed to a levered or winged corkscrew. The silver-plated tool made from brass is as heavy as it sounds—good for showing off feats of strength as you strong-arm your bottle of wine open. It also comes with a matching bottle opener.
