Lofty Living: Stockholm Bedroom

In a 495-square-foot attic in the Söder neighborhood of Stockholm, interior designer Jimmy Schönning—a local celebrity for his role in the Swedish TV shows "Finally at Home" and "Styling Emergency"—has carved out a sweet and stylish home. His diminutive studio is chockablock with creative storage solutions (built-in closets; a washer and drier hidden under a workbench in the bathroom) and loads of personality. We especially love how cozy and efficient Schönning's bedroom is: tucked into the eaves of the building and accessible from a stunning concrete stair set against an inky black wall.

Photographer Nicholas Alan Cope's Black and White L.A.

For the past seven years, Los Angeles based architecture photographer Nicholas Alan Cope has been capturing the striking modernist cityscape the City of Angels has to offer and recently assembled them all in a stunning new book, with a foreword by fashion designer Rick Owens, called Whitewash. What's so beautiful about Whitewash is its reliance on the stark abstraction and contrast of the structures to hold your intrigue without telling you what or where the building is—it really is just a surreal and amazing picture book. He does give clues as to the neighborhood, so perhaps some local Angelinos will know and choose to keep the mystery alive, so it remains all about the photography and not the location.

Aussie Living Room We Love

A mix of warm Brazilian furniture, refined antiques, period furniture, and contemporary lighting turn this renovation project in a hip suburb of Melbourne, Australia, into a family home for the ages. Owners Lisa Gorman and Dean Angelucci converted their 1860s brick-faced stable into a relaxed but design-friendly home with the help of their friend and architect Emilio Fuscaldo. It doesn't hurt that Angelucci is a dealer in rare mid-century furniture—his eye is in display in their sitting room, an adults' retreat among the happy havoc wreaked by two young daughters.
