This exhibition centers on new works by international contemporary artists whose work examines the transitional spaces between art, design and achitecture. Highlights in the show include Gail Hastings' three-dimensional 'thought space', a piece originally conceived for an unbuilt library building by Australian architect Griffin in 1911. Other notable pieces include Albert Weis' 'Cabinet', a sculptural reference to the shared construction aesthetic of Jean Prouvé and Eileen Gray. Other sculptures by Rupert Norfolk and George Henry Longly combine industrial design with minimalist art. The show harks back the 1960s shows of Charlotte Posenenske, who also addressed art and design exemplified by Ferdinand Kramer and Charlotte Perriand and their authentic artistic language expressed in minimalist, participatory art objects. Also included in the group is artist Philippe Parreno, who combines film, and pictorial and applied aesthetics to create politically charged spatial situations.
