This event is for anyone at any level in any architecture or engineering firm that is considering implementing, or is in the process of implementing, or is looking to improve how they use and manage, BIM/Revit programs and methods. Brian DeYoung, Digital Design Manager at SOM's Chicago office, will show a pathway to successful implementation of BIM/Revit from his experience in bringing this method of delivery of architectural services into several firms including his recent efforts at SOM Chicago.
- Participants will be able to describe what it takes in terms of computer hardware, software, training and personnel, to implement BIM/Revit within their architecture or engineering firm.
- Participants will be able to state the differences between CAD and BIM programs and the resulting work flow through various phases of a project and to be able to make recommendations for staffing requirements for implementing BIM/Revit.
- Participants will be able to describe the advantages of a BIM/Revit program over a CAD program in being able to coordinate building construction, extract data and analyze energy performance.
- Participants will be able to explain the learning curve involved in implementing BIM programs and methods and the most efficient learning plans that also incorporate leveraging other CAD and 3D programs already known to users and the best avenues to successfully manage and implement BIM/Revit.
