Modern Embassy Walking Tour in DC with Editor Aaron Britt
May 22, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Dupont Circle, Washington, District of Columbia 20008
$20
Embassy Row along Massachusetts Avenue NW is one of the great architectural and cultural treats of Washington DC. Newly constructed embassies mingle with the brick colonials that give the city so much of its charm, but occasionally a nation will elect to built its American home in the modern style, making a bold statement about its values, aesthetics and intentions. Stroll Embassy Row as you never have before as Dwell editor Aaron Britt illuminates some of the city's modern marvels. Spend your Friday morning, May 22nd learning about Washington's modern architectural history and taking a rare peek inside some the best architecture the world has to offer. We will begin the tour at Dupont Circle at 10:00 am and end the tour at 2:00 pm with a no-host lunch at Amy’s Pizza on Macomb Street NW. Wear comfortable shoes for this 3 mile walk.
Stops along the way include rare peeks inside the Danish Embassy and Residence, the Finnish Embassy, and the Swiss Embassy Residence. We'll also wander past the English, Italian, Belgian and Brazilian Embassies, as well as other uniquely Washingtonian architectural treats.

I did the Dwell sponsored "Street of Eames" tour of modern homes in Portland, OR last month and it was fantastic. I'll be in D.C. May 23rd -25th and would have loved to catch the Modern Embassy tour. Anyone have any must see or do suggestions for Wash. DC. this Memorial Day weekend?
to Jessie Don't miss Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown, beautiful gardens, $8.00 admission, afternoons only. Also Hillwood Museum&Gardens (was M. Merriweather Post house in DC). And my house, shown in the Washingtonian magazine, custom built, designed by a local architect with standard building materials but really different than boring, traditional Washington architecture. I wish I could show it to you.
Jessie, If you have not visited the Kreeger Residence, 2401 Foxhall Rd, I consider it a "hidden" DC treasure. A Phillip Johnson design with an incredible Impressionist collection. enjoy! Rick
It would've been great for Dwell to have organized this for the weekend rather than the last day of a holiday-weekend work week. I would've gone in a second.
Thanks for the link! I received the info about this tour on May 22 on May 26! Keep up the great work!
