Conference
Design and Mobility in Creative Cities
November 23, 9:00 AM–7:30 PM
Cite du Design, 3 Rue Javelin-Pagnon, Saint-Etienne, France 42000
Part of the Saint Étienne International Design Biennial hosted by the Cité du design and City of Montreal is "Design and Mobility in Creative Cities," a conference that will explore improving urban mobility. The main question posed is how can people find pleasure in moving about cities, despite the fact that populations and congestion are ever increasing? And can design imbue a positive effect?
Issues to be discussed include how design can improve mobility with respect to transportation, energy, new housing systems, lifestyles, and sustainability. Speakers include representatives from UNESCO designated "Cities of Design," which includes Buenos Aires, Berlin, Montreal, Nagoya, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
