A Perfect Home: Bridge Project at the Storefront for Art and Architecture

September 14–December 07

Storefront for Art and Architecture, 97 Kenmore Street, New York, New York 10012

The Storefront for Art and Architecture is inaugurating their 2010-2011 exhibition season with The Bridge Project, a new chapter in the Perfect Home project by Do Ho Suh, an artist known for his post-minimalist sculptural works that grapple with notions of home, place, site, and memory.

Over the past two years Do Ho Suh and his team of researchers, architects, and designers have created conceptual bridge designs to connect Seoul and New York. Using different technologies, structures, and forms Suh contends with the issues of climate, biodiversity, and human activity. This conceptual project, which roots back to Do Ho Suh’s first drawings of this inhabitable bridge in 1999, proposes to build a bridge that joins two homes into one, connecting the spatial, temporal, psychological, and cultural distance between Seoul and New York.

An opening reception will be held on September 14th at 7:00 PM, and the exhibition runs until December 7th, 2010.
