    Interior Design Show West 2012

    The 8th annual Interior Design Show West (IDSwest) is happening September 27th to 30th. IDSwest is Western Canada’s annual premiere residential, interior design show featuring 350 exhibitors showcasing quality products and services to an audience of industry professionals, architects, designers, and consumers. Featured speaker Tommy Smythe, designer on Sarah 101 on HGTV, will be sharing his tips and tricks with visitors on Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th, injecting his brand of fun and fashion into the show.   • LA Garden Show

    LA Garden Show

    The largest outdoor gardening event on the West Coast has evolved into a prestigious community gathering, as well as a premier industry event for gardening aficionados and professionals in Southern California and beyond. The event illustrates innovative and environmentally responsible garden design, shares knowledge of “green” gardening practices through workshops, lectures and demonstrations, and provides specialty plants, books and home gardening elements in the Marketplace.

    This year’s event is a tribute to the home gardener and will be an active “How to” guide for living a green gardening lifestyle in Southern California.  Workshops, Lectures, and demonstrations will range from creating edible gardens to designing with California friendly plants, to composting and making water-wise choices, the LA Garden Show will provide the essentials for the professional and novice home garden.

    A wide variety of unique and exotic plants will be available for sale selected by the L.A.  County Arboretum curators and will extend from well-known fruit trees, herbs, and vegetables to cacti and succulents, California Natives, and flowering favorites. Plant experts will be on-hand to share information on how to plant and care for plants.

    Exhibits designed by renowned Southern California landscape designers will showcase sustainable landscape design to inspire the home gardener. 

    Each day of the “LA Garden Show” will feature different events and guest speakers to allow for visitors to schedule their attendance according to their specific interests. Visitors will be able to purchase plants and related gardening items at the show.

  • Maya Romanoff Celebrates 40 years of Design

    Maya Romanoff Celebrates 40 years of Design

    February 17, 2010 - Maya Romanoff celebrates 40 years of design innovation with three tie-dyed wallcoverings to be unveiled in Spring 2010: Half Plaid, Snowflake, and Crystal. This anniversary folio was inspired by the artist's early work, created in collaboration with New York designer and co-founder of Design Miami, Amy Lau. The museum display has been arranged by friend and architect, David Rockwell.

    A private preview of the Anniversary Collection will be conducted in conjunction with special studio demonstrations showcasing the company's unique techniques. Co-hosted by the Museum of Arts and Design, New York's latest destination for innovative art and design, the preview will be held March 10, 2010, 4:30pm to 5:30pm, within the Museum located at 2 Columbus Circle. RSVP for the March 10th preview, must be received by March 3, 2010.

    Romanoff's subtle beaded wall covering, Beadazzled, adorns a wall in the museum's Tiffany & Co. Jewelry Gallery. In conjunction with the Museum's exhibition Slash: Paper Under the Knife, Maya Romanoff has provided panels of a new wall covering, Ohm, for the Museum's elevators. Ohm is made of two layers of Lokta paper. Chopsticks are used to shape the honeycomb pattern.

    A pioneer of monumental textile installation, Maya Romanoff is noted for his deep knowledge of ancient craft techniques and ability to synthesize environments with the resonant beauty of handmade, utilitarian objects out of materials that range from paper and felt, to mica and glass bead.
