This discussion will focus on the basics of the Rehabilitation Tax Credits program, using case studies as examples, and will give an overview of which redevelopment projects are eligible, and how developers, owners, and architects can take advantage of the program. It will outline recurring challenges involved in using the credits and provide an overview of recent changes in the law that expand the availability of the credits. The discussion will also touch on the central role that the RTC program (and historic preservation in general) can play in promoting sustainability, protecting historic properties and encouraging the conservation of resources.
The conference will boast an assortment of informative CEU’s, vendor booths, student workshops, Annual ASID Awards Ceremony, annual members meeting, guest speakers, Architectural tour and so much more. The tour on Friday features two historical churches – one built in 1859 and the other in 1869. Both have fascinating stories from the Civil War and are glorious examples of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. Linda Sherbert, features editor for Veranda Magazine will be doing a workshop for our Emerging Professionals and students Saturday morning and then a presentation following the Saturday luncheon. This will include an interview and book signing with Alabama native, author and architect, Bobby Mc Alpine.

These Los Angeles-based artists, now in their eighties, shared their interest in, and devotion to, the principles of modern design. Using their deep knowledge of art history, traditional craft and folk art, the Ackermans have created a body of work remarkable for its diversity of styles, techniques and materials.
