Ahhh the living room, or should we say the everything room. It's your respite from the world, the place you kick your shoes off and curl up on the couch after a long day, sometimes dinging room, often entertainment room, and even guest room in a pinch. We all want our living rooms to reflect the best of our personal style, after all they are the rooms we really live in, but sometimes we need a little inspiration from others. Here, we've gathered seven of our current favorites to give you some great ideas for your own space.

  A RENOVATED LOFT IN SOHOAll of the natural light enters the apartment from the living room windows. 590BC worked with Tamara Eaton Design to furnish the interiors, which holds a mix of refined and rough-hewn pieces. A vintage Harry Bertoia chair holds court with a B&B Italia sofa, shag carpet by Shansom Rugs, steel side table from Global Views, and steel Arco coffee table from Room.   A SOPHISTICATED PENTHOUSE IN CAPE TOWNKaren and Richard Barrow’s waterfront apartment in Cape Town, South Africa, was created by Cécile & Boyd’s. The firm used many furnishings of their own design for the project, including two custom-made sectional sofas, a wood-and-metal coffee table, a collection of glass vases, and the brass floor lamps.     Karen and Richard Barrow’s waterfront apartment in Cape Town, South Africa, was created by Cécile & Boyd’s. The firm used many furnishings of their own design for the project, including two custom-made sectional sofas, a wood-and-metal coffee table, a collection of glass vases, and the brass floor lamps. Desjardins sourced all the main furniture pieces from Minotti, including a Jensen armchair and Mitchell coffee table. Spicing up the dark color palette is a striped Spectrum rug by the Rug Company. The designer chose subtle, gallery-like lighting by EKLIPSE Architectural Lighting: LED rails and back-lit niches complement the owners’ art, particularly a painting by Simen Johans.Photo by André Doyon. The paintings are by Heather Watkins, a Portland artist.
