Overview

The Interactive Institute is a Swedish experimental IT-research institute that combines expertise in art, design and technology to conduct world leading applied research. We develop new research areas, products and services, and provide strategic advice to corporations and public organizations. Our research results are exhibited worldwide and are commercialized through license agreements and spin-off companies.

Since the start in 1998, our work is characterized by not only conducting traditional academic research but also exploring the borders between art, design and technology, industry and academy, public and private sectors. The institute has about 60 employees organized in a number of research groups referred to as studios. Each studio has its own theme, but they all relate to the overall focus of combining technology with art and design. At the present, there are 12 such studios located in Kista/Stockholm, Piteå, Umeå, Eskilstuna, Norrköping and Göteborg.
