Can You Spot the Fake? How Knockoffs Affect the Design Industry

One of the more provocative panel discussions at Dwell on Design 2013, "Can You Spot the Fake? How Knockoffs Affect the Design Industry" raised many important questions—thanks to panelists Gregg Buchbinder, Emeco chairman (and Be Original member); Made in America blogger John Briggs; and textile designer, color consultant, and trend forecaster Laura Guido-Clark. Pinboards Come to Life in the Pinterest Pavilion

Dwell editors made a special visit to the Pinterest Pavilion on the show floor Saturday, where we met and chatted with the winners of the Dwell on Design Pin-spiration Designer Competition. The designers, all ASID members, shared their 3-D “pinboards,” brought to life in the form of vibrant fabrics, wallcoverings, clippings, greenery, and even a blue cuckoo clock. The Editor Is In: 7 Tips for Pitching Stories to Dwell

A perennial highlight of Dwell on Design are our professional consultations—a chance to sit down with licensed architects, designers, and landscapers and get some free design advice. This year we introduced The Editor Is In—same concept, except we want architects, designers, and writers to come to us. This is a rare opportunity to get one-on-one face time with the editors who pick what we feature in our magazine, and to solicit direct feedback on projects and pitches. Editors will be on hand to meet with designers and writers on Sunday, June 23, from 1 to 3pm at the Dwell Bookstore at Dwell on Design—booth 138, in the far back corner of the show floor.
