Digital Mom
There are a lot of gift guides for Mother's Day, but how many of them reflect the women in your life, or the woman you are?

A precious few, especially when it comes to tech gifts. Lots of places want to tell you how much Mom will love a digital camera and photo frame—all the better to snap and view pictures of you. The Consumer Electronics Association is even using Florence Henderson as its spokesmom. Sigh.

Here are some suggestions from someone who sees a lot of research about product purchases and use.

Women love things that make their busy lives easier, not more complicated. Devices that help with time management and pull double duty are great. Hard drive recorders like Tivo and ways to get media content off the computer and into a family room like Apple TV and Slingbox will win a woman's heart, and let her watch what she wants when she has a moment. Make sure you get tech support; moms don't have a weekend to devote to system set up.

And yes, a digital camera is a great gift, but odds are good she already has one. Go for the upgrade and splurge on a digital camera (click here for reviews) or a class that will help improve her photography skills, and you'll get bonus points for giving her a nice getaway from the family.
