Miele Self-Opening Dishwasher
Miele's new La Perla series dishwashers (available in late fall 2008) have an automatic door opening and closing system that aids in air-drying your sparkling-clean dishes, saving energy used by the heated drying cycle.
This is either a great leap forward, or an absurd "luxe-green" feature that will make the La Perla the Teddy Ruxpin of early 21st-century home appliances. Only time will tell.

But the best part of this dishwasher, which I proudly own, is that it does a great job of cleaning dishes in a gentle way and silently. We have remodeled our house in stages during the past 20+years and I can testify about many great products such as this one.

I think it's a great idea. If I run my dishwasher overnight I have to open it in the morning for the dishes to dry while I am at work, so this make air drying Much more convenient for those of use that aren't home as much as we'd like to be.

That is very cute! I saw some similar ones on http://www.dream-kitchen.co.uk and on http://www.kitchens.com - if only I had room in my kitchen for one!! I am the only dishwasher in this house though :-)

we get a lot of clients at myhomeus.com looking for green products--especially energy saver products--but not sure how many people will go for a self-opening dishwasher!?
