Video: Edible Island
Chef Chris Fischer, formerly of Mario Batali’s New York City restaurant Babbo, recently returned to his home in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts to be closer to both family and food sources.

“There’s a big disconnect between the growers and the restaurants and the chefs,” said Chris, whose family has cultivated land on Martha’s Vineyard for generations. “There’s just such an amazing variety and quality of products growing on the island and coming out of the oceans and coming out of the woods…to be close to that made a lot more sense than staying in the City.”

In Edible Island, a series that launched on Plum TV this month, Chris hunts and gathers local food, then turns his finds into simple dishes. The show is a modest, eco-minded endeavor that would make Michael Pollan proud.

In the video below, Chris goes scalloping, then teaches you to cook the scallops in parchment paper with potatoes.
