Noticed: Kitchen Furniture
As the kitchen continues to evolve into home’s social and organizational center, Americans have invested more heavily in its appearance. From bright yellow Bertazzoni stoves to Elica’s sculptural range hoods, we’ve seen appliances elevated from mere utility to design objects proudly showcased.

Last month, McGuire, a San Francisco-based furniture manufacturer and subsidiary of Kohler, launched a collection of tables, chairs, and counter stools, exclusively for the kitchen. The furniture combines a clean-lined, modern aesthetic with warm, natural materials like wood, rattan, water hyacinth, and abaca.

McGuire’s new collection made me wonder: Now that appliances and cabinetry have been glamorized, is kitchen furniture the next up?
