Kitchen Design Acts its Age

Of the 78 million baby boomers in the U.S., approximately one in three will be 62 or older come 2013, as an article in today's Wall Street Journal pointed out. Several appliance manufacturers have anticipated the needs of this aging population, creating kitchen appliances that combat forgetfulness, hearing loss, and failing eyesight.
Examples include Delta’s Touch20 faucet, which can be tapped on or off, relieving those with weak wrists or arthritis.
General Electric created the GE Profile Single/Double wall oven, whose high placement and short doors make it easier to move food in and out. This summer, Thermador will debut a cooktop equipped with their signature Sensor Dome technology—an infrared beam that measures cookware temperature, turning the heat on and off to prevent burning or boil overs.
