Solid Wood Kitchen

As we’ve previously noted, homeowners are shying away from stainless steel, opting instead for warmer, more natural materials. Continuing this trend is Hansen Living, a Danish furniture company that announced three new kitchen designs by architect Knud Kapper today. Each is made of hand-crafted, solid wood and coated with an eco-friendly finish.
Series 100 (above), with its solid build, joined corners, and classic detailing, is more traditional than Series 200 (below), which takes its cues from Japanese minimalism. And for those dwelling in small spaces, the Instant Kitchen (bottom), packs an oven, stovetop, dishwasher, and refrigerator, among other appliances, into one island.
The kitchen can be designed in plantation-teak, ash, walnut, or oak. One of the advantages of solid wood, as opposed to veneer, is that you sand it down and refinish it. You can also let its color alter with age.
