San Francisco Architecture Month
Lest you be tempted to relegate San Francisco to a stereotype of old-fashioned Victorians and rows of houses with bay windows, there is indeed good modern design taking place in Dwell's hometown. To prove that point, and to provide a whole month of festivities centered around the idea, the AIA San Francisco is hosting a festival called "Architecture and the City" during all of September. Should you have missed the first couple weeks of this event, don't worry: There's still much left to see and do.

Upcoming events include a bike tour of favorite local architecture of note, a film series, lectures, walking tours, exhibitions, and parties. This weekend, there's even the chance to look inside some very interesting new residential projects with the San Francisco Weekend: Home Tours. Though the homes on such tours tend to be on the very, very expensive side, budget-wise, it's still a good chance to indulge any modernist voyeuristic tendencies you may have and to walk through some nice homes.

There are also several conferences taking place this week, one of which includes Dwell on Design later this week. Which we do, of course, most heartily recommend that you attend.
