Prefab Cabin
One of the many architectural responses to the housing crisis created two years ago by Hurricane Katrina was the H.E.L.P. (Help Every Last Person) emergency shelter, a mini prefab created by designer Carib Daniel Martin.

Martin is now manufacturing a version of the shelter, known as the microHOME, for general use in a production facility in southern Illinois. The 100-square-foot house includes a kitchenette, a bathroom with a pass-through shower and a composting toilet. It feels like a cross between a backwoods cabin and a trailer— prefab with an ironical folksy edge. Starting at $39,995 it hardly seems like a bargain, though delivery and installation are included.

Would you or wouldn’t you? Anyone?

as a functioning cabin, an altered 'garage package' with the same basic amenities could run much cheaper. but good idea.

In an environment where you spent time outdoors as an additional 'room' this would be cool. Plus it seems to leave a small footprint in its environment.
