DIY: Seed Bombs

While some of us are waiting for more greenscapes to be planned in our cities, some are taking matters into their own hands using seed bombs to plant otherwise abandoned or neglected parts of the cityscape. But what about your own backyard?
Fall is approaching and with it comes the best time to plant in Southern California. Take a page out of the Guerilla Gardener's manual and make yourself a seed bomb.
The basic idea is to mix compost, wildflower seeds and a bit of clay together to create a little bomb of seeds that can be chucked over a fence or dropped into an empty bit of dirt and then can be left to its own devices. Apply a bit of beautiful anarchy to your own garden and follow these directions for making your own.
For those that learn better visually you can also watch a step by step video made by Guerrilla Gardening Founder Richard Reynolds.
