Dan Funderburgh Snapshot
Funderburgh is kind of a renaissance man. He’s a graphic artist, illustrator, and wallpaper designer who also blogs and occasionally shows in galleries. I first stumbled upon Dan’s work while doing research on wallpaper, and keep coming across new surprises in random little pockets of the web.

New Orleans-based Flavor League carries a number of Funderburgh’s wallpaper designs, which seem to generally combine everyday themes and imagery with a more extraordinary and erudite expression. I never imagined crutches, bicycle chain rings, and fire hydrants could be so elegant.

Just when I think I’m ahead of the game, Kitsune Noir launches the wildly successful Desktop Wallpaper Project, and Funderburgh contributes a killer design (above). Next, I find out he’s also done drop-dead stuff for these custom engraved Moleskin notebooks (below). There’s probably a whole lot more I haven’t discovered yet, but until the next pleasant surprise, images from Funderburgh’s latest show at Williamsburgs’s Riviera gallery and new letterpress prints (top) will have to suffice.
