ICFF Report: Hardcore

Like a miniature Milan, ICFF is an amalgam of convention center booths and off-site events scattered around New York City. One such gathering in the hipster-laden Meatpacking District was Hardcore, a group exhibition of Finnish designers.

The Hardcore show was a diverse cross-section of disciplines, including technological fashion, post-modern cows, and embossed frying pans. The variety and depth of work betrayed the typical stereotype—the idea that Scandinavian design adheres to a singular aesthetic and philosophy is an outdated one—ranging from progressive conceptual pieces to everyday practical products.
