Slideshow: Corner House in Dublin

Irish firm ODOS Architects built this house on an empty lot at the corner of Thor Place and Ashford Street in Dublin. The structure, they hoped, would fill a hole in the neighborhood, restoring the continuous, low-flowing lines of its single-story homes.
To achieve this—and to give their clients the spacious, contemporary home they desired—ODOS designed a long, linear structure, with two stories: one above and one below ground. And, as you’ll see from the accompanying slideshow, the dark, timber-clad building manages to be strikingly modern without sacrificing the architects’ aim of integration.
