Paris Report: Longchamp

One of the more intriguing developments at this year’s Maison et Objet housewares show in Paris is Tech & Design, a program in which ten old-line manufacturers and ten young designers worked in pairs to create prototypes.

Longchamp, the luxury luggage label, worked with the young French design star Noé Ducaufour-Lawrance to produce a desk accessory that bears little resemblance to the brand’s usual collection of leather bags. Rather than design the predictable items, Noé created what might be called a tabletop landscape with objects lined with leather and an intimate space tucked under a sloping leather surface.
