Book Worm by Design
Ever wondered what reading list your favorite designer might recommend? That’s the premise behind The Storefront for Art and Architecture’s new bookstore, which opens today at 97 Kenmare St. in New York.

Twelve artists, writers, filmmakers, designers, and architects from the Storefront’s 25-year history have chosen (plus/minus) 10 books for the gallery to sell or showcase (in the case of out-of-print rarities). Designer Vito Acconci selected Tensile Structures by Frei Otto and Learning From Las Vegas, a book that heavily influenced postmodernism, by Robert Venturi, Steven Izenour, and Denise Scott Brown.

SANAA, the firm that designed The New Museum nearby, chose 2G Lina Bo Bardi by Gustavo Gili, a biography of the Brazilian architect, and A Man Without a Country by Kurt Vonnegut.

Designers Toyo Ito and Steven Holl also placed their top-10 picks.
